Explore Castel dell'Aquila, one of the most imposing and evocative Malaspina Castles in all of Italy, a unique location. An ancestral, magical place, suspended in time, surrounded by olive trees, lavender, and broom in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape, rugged in its wonderful simplicity. An oasis of peace and well-being where sunsets caress the soul. A glimpse into history and legend that will take you on a fascinating journey. Tours are available daily at 11:45 AM and 5:00 PM.

The Knight of Castel dell'Aquila: During the excavation work related to the renovations, the intact skeleton of a knight from the 14th century was discovered inside the castle. Following this finding, anthropologists subjected it to carbon-14 dating, which allowed them to determine its historical period. Today, the cast is displayed in a reserved area at the location where it was found, while the original is housed at the University of Siena. It will be possible to visit it daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The Rivellino and the Hanging Garden: Suspended between sky and earth, they overlook the Lucido Valley, narrating a poem that leaves visitors in awe due to the incomparable beauty of the view, with sunsets that touch the soul. The Rivellino and the Hanging Garden can be visited daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Permanent Exhibitions: It will also be possible to visit the permanent exhibitions dedicated to traditional Japan, located within the castle premises, daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Where are we?
Elisir d'Amor is located in picturesque Tuscany in Gragnola in the municipality of Fivizzano in Lunigiana in the province of Massa-Carrara, Italy.
Access to the Castle
For day visits, cars are not allowed to enter the castle unless you are a hotel guest or pay a parking ticket. You can access it for free by motorbike, bicycle or on foot.
Elisir d’Amore is a estate surrounded by hundreds of hectares of chestnuts, olive trees, larches, Mediterranean pines, brooms, and lavender, where horses, deer, donkeys, and countless other animals roam freely, including the graceful resident swallows of Castel dell'Aquila, reminding us that we are all united under one sky, and love is the alphabet with which the entire universe has been written.
